The Village craftsman shares the in’s and outs of creating the Villager / Switch case.

It’s been a big week in the Villager studio, our first Switch case prototype emerged from the cutting room ready for testing. For the last few months the case has slowly but surely been taking shape but this is the first time we’ve had a real working sample. Until now the project has been in the drawing board phase; researching, sketching and whittling down ideas into one direction. And whilst this is the first of many prototypes, we’re all a little nervous to see how it comes together.

It’s also the first time we’re sharing our progress with new people outside the studio which is a little scary. You’d think designing something for yourself would be simple, but you never know what you don’t know. So we’re field testing the sample with some of the new Villager community to get a wider range of views. Then we'll be back to the drawing board for more tweaks and refinement, as well as designing all the final materials and hardware.
